Hoax Believer Threatened Family of Sandy Hook Victim

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that a Tampa, Florida woman has been charged with four counts of making threats against the parents of a child who died in the Sandy hook Elementary School shooting. Authorities say that she made the threats because she thought the tragedy in 2012 was a hoax.

Last week Erica Lafferty made a plea for the President-Elect to speak out against fake news. Lafferty, the daughter of Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, who was killed in the attack, asked that President-Elect Trump denounce Alex Jones, host of a web-based show called "InfoWars." Jones has used his show to spread these false conspiracy "theories":

• That there is a child slavery ring run from a Washington, D.C. restaurant (see previous posts)
• That the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was staged

Trump has repeatedly been a guest on the Jones program and has praised him for his journalism.
